Sri Lanka announces women's Asian Games cricket squad
Sri Lanka Cricket has announced a 15-member women’s squad for the upcoming Asian Games cricket competition, with veteran Chamari Athapaththu appointed as captain. The squad features a blend of experienced players and emerging talent, including teenagers Chamudi Praboda and Rashmika Sewwandi.
However, the team faces a significant setback as all-rounder Nilakshika Silva has been ruled out of the tournament due to a finger injury. Silva, known for her contributions with both bat and ball, will be unable to participate, forcing team management to seek a replacement.
Sri Lanka is scheduled to begin its campaign against Malaysia on September 18. The squad includes several players from the recent Women’s Asia Cup, such as Imesha Dulani, Harshitha Samarawickrama, and wicketkeeper Anushka Sanjeewani.
