Sri Lanka Begins National Integrity Week to Boost Ethical Governance

Sri Lanka launched a week‑long National Integrity Week on July 27, 2026, running through July 31. The programme, titled “A Culture of Integrity – A Clean Sri Lanka,” was announced via a circular signed by Secretary to the President Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake and is jointly implemented by the Presidential Secretariat and the Clean Sri Lanka Programme.

The launch includes the administration of a National Integrity Pledge and the introduction of a new Code of Ethics for public officials. Each day focuses on a specific aspect of integrity—institutional, financial/digital/entrepreneurial, spiritual/cultural, operational/infrastructure, and environmental/resource management.

Internal Affairs Units in every government institution will collect public complaints on corruption and misconduct through QR codes, email, post, telephone and web platforms, with a digital monitoring system tracking institutional responses. Although the week ends on July 31, the integrity programme will continue in all government and semi‑government bodies until December 31, 2026.
