Sri Lanka expects heavy rain and strong winds on July 30

The Department of Meteorology forecast showers across several regions of Sri Lanka on 30 July, with heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm expected in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North‑western provinces and the districts of Kandy, Nuwara‑Eliya, Galle and Matara. Strong winds of 40‑50 km/h are forecast for the Northern, North‑central, North‑western and Central provinces and districts such as Ratnapura, Monaragala, Hambantota and Trincomalee.

Coastal areas will experience rough seas, with wind speeds rising to 50‑60 km/h in waters off Hambantota to Pottuvil and Kalpitiya to Mullaitivu. Wave heights may reach 2.0‑2.5 m, and sea conditions will be rough to fairly rough in several offshore zones.
