Sri Lanka Export Board launches third ExpoScaleUp cohort for SME exporters
The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), together with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the European Union (EU), inaugurated the third cohort of the ExpoScaleUp programme. The four‑day intensive training brought together 25 high‑potential Sri Lankan small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs) to develop export‑oriented marketing plans, receive coaching from a Dutch export specialist and gain access to further market‑exposure opportunities through the ExpoConnect component.
Since its launch in January 2025, ExpoScaleUp has supported 50 SMEs, helping five secure their first export orders and enabling dozens to obtain international certifications, attend trade fairs and explore overseas markets. The initiative is part of the broader Sri Lanka Export Excellence Initiative, which aims to raise annual export earnings to $19 billion this year and $36 billion by 2030 by expanding into sectors such as electronics, IT, logistics and food processing, and by attracting foreign direct investment through events like Sri Lanka Expo 2027.
