Sri Lanka extradites wanted fugitive from Malaysia

A 41-year-old Sri Lankan man, identified as Dhanushka Kaushalya (also known as ‘Ratmalane Saima’), has been extradited from Malaysia to Sri Lanka following an Interpol Red Notice. The suspect was apprehended in Malaysia during a joint operation involving Malaysian law enforcement and the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Unit.

Kaushalya is wanted in connection with serious criminal activities in Peradeniya, including an alleged 2014 abduction and assault at gunpoint, as well as a fatal shooting in 2016. Authorities have also identified him as an associate of the organized criminal figure ‘Kanjipani Imran’.

Two other Sri Lankan nationals, aged 31 and 35, were arrested alongside Kaushalya in Malaysia. They have been handed over to the Peradeniya Police for further investigation to determine their potential involvement in the crimes being investigated in Sri Lanka.
