Sri Lanka Forecast Calls for Isolated Showers and Strong Winds

The Department of Meteorology predicts mainly dry weather across Sri Lanka, with a few isolated showers expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North‑western provinces and in the districts of Kandy, Nuwara‑Eliya, Galle and Matara. Strong winds of about 40‑50 km/h are forecast for the Western slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North‑central and North‑western provinces, and the districts of Monaragala, Hambantota and Trincomalee, potentially reaching 50‑60 km/h at times.

Coastal areas will see rough seas, especially from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota. Wave heights are expected to rise to roughly 2.0‑2.5 metres in these zones, with wind speeds also increasing to 50‑60 km/h in certain sea stretches.
