Sri Lanka forecasts afternoon showers and strong winds across several districts

The Department of Meteorology issued a weather outlook for Sri Lanka, warning of showers or thundershowers after 2 p.m. in Ampara, Monaragala, Batticaloa and other eastern districts. Most of the island is expected to stay dry, but strong gusts of 40‑50 km/h are forecast for the western slopes of the central hills and parts of the north, north‑central, central and north‑western provinces, as well as Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.

Marine conditions will be unsettled, with rough seas off the coasts from Kalpitiya to Kankasanthurai via Mannar, and from Hambantota to Pottuvil. The public is advised to take precautions against localized strong winds and lightning.
