Sri Lanka: Former MP claims no improvement in living standards

Former Member of Parliament Sanjeewa Edirimanna has stated that there has been no improvement in the quality of life for citizens over the past two years. Speaking at a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna party headquarters meeting, Edirimanna criticized the current administration for failing to meet its promises of a prosperous nation and a beautiful life.

He noted that despite the government's focus on primary account balances and budget surpluses, the public is facing declining incomes, job uncertainty, rising living costs, inflation, and increasing poverty. Edirimanna argued that the government has remained silent regarding these deteriorating conditions and has failed to implement internal discussions to address the daily struggles of the people.
