Sri Lanka issues landslide alerts for Kandy, Kegalle, Nuwara Eliya

The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued a series of landslide warnings across four districts in Sri Lanka. A Level 3 (Red) evacuation alert was declared for the Pasbage Korale and Ganga Ihala Korale divisions in Kandy District, with residents told to stay on high alert and follow any evacuation orders. Level 2 (Amber) warnings cover additional areas in Kandy, Kegalle and Nuwara Eliya districts, while Level 1 (Yellow) alerts apply to several other locations in those districts and in Ratnapura.

All warnings remain in force until the specified expiry times (the Level 3 alert until 09:00 a.m. on 4 August, other alerts until 11:00 p.m. on 3 August). The NBRO urged people living in vulnerable zones to monitor official updates, remain vigilant, and comply with instructions from local authorities.
