Anwar Ibrahim welcomes Western measures against Israeli settlements

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has welcomed a joint declaration by 12 Western nations regarding measures against illegal Israeli settlements. He specifically noted the decisions by Britain, Canada, and France to introduce measures aimed at banning trade in goods originating from these settlements.

Anwar highlighted the significance of the United Kingdom formally recognizing the unlawfulness of the Israeli occupation and acknowledged reports of ethnic cleansing in parts of the West Bank. He urged these governments to use their diplomatic and economic influence to end settlement expansion, address the destruction in Gaza, and ensure unimpeded humanitarian access for Palestinians.

While welcoming the shift in approach, the Prime Minister emphasized that these political statements must be followed by concrete implementation and binding international measures to secure a lasting peace in the Middle East.
