Sri Lanka offers free entry for India Test series

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has announced free stadium entry for fans to watch the two upcoming Test matches against India. The initiative aims to increase interest in Test cricket among younger audiences as popularity shifts toward T20 formats. Fans can access free entry through gates 3, 4, 5, and 7 at the Galle and Colombo stadiums.

The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-26. India, ranked fifth, and Sri Lanka, ranked sixth, are both looking to advance their positions in the standings.

In recent preparatory action, India secured a six-wicket victory against a Sri Lanka XI in a three-day practice match in Colombo. Chasing a target of 207, India reached the goal in the 45th over, aided by a rapid 32-run contribution from Mohammed Siraj, who hit three consecutive sixes in a single over. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the top scorer for India with 61 runs. Regular captain Shubman Gill returned to the field following a finger injury sustained during practice.
