Sri Lanka promotes tourism through Oceania B2B roadshow
The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) recently conducted a nine-day B2B networking series across Australia and New Zealand to promote the country’s tourism sector. From August 31 to September 9, the roadshow visited five cities: Christchurch, Auckland, Sydney, Adelaide, and Perth.
The initiative facilitated meetings between 50 representatives from Sri Lankan hotels, resort groups, and destination management companies and more than 250 travel agents and tour operators. The program included destination presentations, press conferences, and cultural performances to introduce business opportunities and cultural heritage to the Oceania travel trade.
Beyond industry networking, Sri Lanka continues to leverage its historical assets, such as the central highlands' tea plantations. The tea industry, which began commercial cultivation in 1867, remains a significant cultural and scenic draw for independent travelers exploring regions like Nuwara Eliya, Ella, and Hatton.
