Sri Lanka to absorb part of rising global fuel price burden

The Sri Lankan government intends to absorb a portion of the rising global fuel costs to protect domestic consumers. Energy Minister Anura Karunathilake announced in Parliament that while international fuel prices have increased, the state will not pass the entire financial burden onto the public during the upcoming monthly price review.

Minister Karunathilake noted that the government has previously absorbed parts of price pressures during April, May, and June. The upcoming review at the end of the month will determine the specific measures taken to mitigate the impact of global market fluctuations on local consumers.
