Sri Lanka weather forecast predicts showers and rough seas

The Department of Meteorology has forecasted several spells of showers for Sri Lanka, specifically targeting the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.

Additional showers or thundershowers are expected in parts of the Uva and Eastern provinces, along with the Mullaittivu district, particularly after 2:00 p.m. Authorities have advised the public to take precautions against localized strong winds and lightning during these thundershowers.

Marine conditions include south-westerly winds ranging from 30-40 kmph, with potential increases up to 60 kmph in certain sea areas. Sea conditions are expected to be rough or fairly rough at times, with wave heights potentially reaching 2.0 to 2.5 meters in areas extending from Matara to Pottuvil.
