Sri Lankan business councils expand regional and international trade ties

Sri Lankan companies recently participated in Hotel Asia 2026 in the Maldives to showcase hospitality products and services. Facilitated by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) and the Sri Lanka–Maldives Business Council (SLMLBC), the initiative allowed businesses across the hospitality supply chain—including food and beverage, furniture, engineering, and technology—to connect with Maldivian buyers and government representatives.

Separately, the Sri Lanka-USA Business Council (SLUSABC) celebrated its tenth anniversary at its Annual General Meeting. Tilak Gunawardana was re-elected as President for a second term. During the meeting, US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Eric Meyer emphasized the importance of improving the business climate and strengthening intellectual property protection to attract US investment. He identified technology, energy, infrastructure, and logistics as key sectors for future commercial cooperation between the two nations.
