Sri Lankan Minister denies Duminda Hulangamuwa advised Ranil Wickremesinghe

Minister Bimal Rathnayake has rejected claims made by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Harsha de Silva regarding the professional history of Duminda Hulangamuwa. During a parliamentary session, de Silva suggested that Hulangamuwa, who currently serves as an economic advisor to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, had previously served as an economic advisor to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Rathnayake clarified that the assertion is false and requested that the opposition MP withdraw the statement. The Minister stated that Hulangamuwa has never held an advisory role for Wickremesinghe or any other former president or prime minister. He explained that while Hulangamuwa served on various committees during his tenure as Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, these were business community roles rather than presidential appointments.

Hulangamuwa was formally appointed as a senior adviser on economic affairs and finance to President Dissanayake on September 24, 2024, and also serves as the chairman of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka.
