Sri Lankan President's Office refutes hospitalisation rumors

The President's Office of Sri Lanka has issued an official statement refuting widespread social media rumors claiming President Anura Kumara Dissanayake was admitted to a private hospital due to sudden illness. Officials confirmed the reports are entirely without basis and that the President continues to carry out his official duties without interruption.

Investigations suggest the misinformation was circulated by a political group to suggest the success of a superstitious ritual. Reports indicate that during an event, a clay figure resembling the President was subjected to a ritual involving poisonous thorns and mantras. The ritual was reportedly performed to test the efficacy of local curses and invisible forces, according to statements made by Pitiduwe Siridhamma, also known as Siri Samanthabhadra Thero.

The President's Office has urged the public and media organizations to verify information through credible sources and avoid sharing unverified content regarding the Head of State.
