Sri Lanka's BOI and Austrade partner to enhance FDI promotion

The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) and the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) held a specialized workshop to enhance expertise in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). This collaboration is part of the agreed actions under the Trade and Investment Facilitation Agreement (TIFA) between Sri Lanka and Australia.

During the session, Austrade shared best practices regarding sectoral targeting, investor lifecycle management, branding, and digital enablers. The workshop provided practical insights into pipeline management and inter-agency coordination frameworks to help the BOI refine its investment attraction strategies, particularly for the mineral and education sectors.

Australian High Commissioner Mathew Duckworth noted that Sri Lanka possesses significant competitive advantages, such as a skilled workforce and a strategic geographical position, which can be leveraged by creating domestic environments conducive to investment. The program was led by Austrade’s Trade and Investment Commissioner Andrew Carter, with welcome remarks from BOI Chairman Duminda Hulangamuwa.
