SRI updates requirements for online service access keys in Ecuador

The Ecuadorian Internal Revenue Service (SRI) has introduced new regulations for obtaining and recovering access credentials for its online services. Under Resolution No. NAC-DGERCGC26-00000036, signed on September 18, 2026, taxpayers are now required to maintain a valid email address and mobile phone number that are used exclusively for their own tax accounts.

There are three primary methods for generating access keys. Individuals and corporations can use the SRI online portal if they possess a valid, recognized electronic signature in Ecuador. Authorized third parties may use the Gob.ec portal, provided they present legal documentation of their authority and sign a responsibility agreement. Additionally, taxpayers can still complete the process in person at SRI service centers.

A significant change is that password recovery will no longer require an in-person visit. Taxpayers can now recover their keys via the SRI online portal or through the telephone channel 1700 774-774, provided they have an updated email address on file. The new regulations will take effect once published in the Official Registry.
