Srinagar announces traffic diversions for Kashmir Marathon

The Srinagar Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for October 1 to accommodate the ‘Run for Unity’ Kashmir Marathon-2026. Traffic movement along Boulevard Road, specifically from Lalit Ghat to Habbak, will be restricted for five hours between 6 am and 11 am.

Major diversions have been established to facilitate the event. Vehicles traveling from R. M. Bagh toward Gupkar and Lal Chowk will be diverted via Badyari and Dalgate. Gupkar Road will be closed to all traffic except marathon participants until the event concludes. Motorists heading toward Nishat, Shalimar, and Harwan are advised to use alternate routes through Dalgate, Rainawari, Hazratbal, Zakura, Burzahama, Tailbal, and Chandpora.

Participants are instructed to use designated parking areas at Zabarwan Park and the Botanical Garden. The police warned that vehicles parked on roadsides will be towed. Emergency vehicles will be permitted to take the shortest available routes. For assistance, the public can contact the Traffic Police Control Room at 103.
