Srinagar opens inaugural ‘Waste to Wonder’ garden

Srinagar has inaugurated its first ‘Waste to Wonder’ garden at Polo Ground Park, an eco-friendly initiative designed to promote recycling and environmental awareness. Spread over 16 kanals of land, the garden features artistic installations created from repurposed discarded materials.

Visitors can view sculptures and floral arrangements made from scrap metal, old vehicle components, discarded tyres, plastic bottles, and fallen timber. Specific installations include a vintage Ambassador car, a classic Kashmiri tonga, a floral boat, a floral scooter, a heritage jeep, and a floral tractor. The project aims to transform mundane refuse into public art to encourage sustainable behaviors and community engagement with waste management.
