SSŠ Biela voda school closure suspended by court

A legal dispute has emerged regarding the status of the SSŠ Biela voda private school in Kežmarok. The Slovak Ministry of Education previously finalized a decision to revoke the school's authorization to provide education, following findings by the State School Inspection. The Ministry reported significant discrepancies, including claims that while the school reported an 80% attendance rate, actual student presence was only 15.6%. The school had received 2.55 million euros for 465 students, leading to a referral to the General Prosecutor's Office regarding suspected subsidy fraud.

However, a court has suspended the removal of the school from the registry to allow for further investigation. Supporters of the school, including former Supreme Court judge and former Justice Minister Štefan Harabin, have challenged the legality of the Ministry's procedures. They allege that the accusations against the school's director were fabricated and lack evidence. Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, authorities and regional administrators are working to ensure students can continue their education from September 1.
