SS Rajamouli to film ‘Varanasi’ entirely with IMAX cameras

Following the technical success of Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’, which became the highest-grossing IMAX film of all time, director SS Rajamouli has announced his next major production, ‘Varanasi’, will be filmed entirely using IMAX cameras.

This marks only the second feature film in history to be shot completely in the IMAX format. ‘Varanasi’ is also set to be the first non-English language production to achieve this technical milestone. The epic narrative follows the character Rudhra, played by Mahesh Babu, in a race against time as the city of Varanasi faces an imminent asteroid collision. The story is expected to span multiple continents, from Africa to Antarctica. The film’s cast includes Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
