SS Rajamouli to release Varanasi in 120 countries using human dubbing

Director SS Rajamouli is planning a massive global rollout for his upcoming action-adventure film, ‘Varanasi’. The project, which stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is expected to be released in approximately 120 countries on April 7, 2027.

In a departure from modern technical trends, Rajamouli has reportedly decided against using AI-generated or synthetic voices for the film’s international versions. Instead, the production will utilize real voice artists to dub the film into roughly 50 languages. The goal of this strategy is to ensure that the emotional charge, personality, and intent of the original performances are preserved across different markets.

The extensive dubbing process is expected to involve more than 1,500 voice artists, whose work will be assessed to select the final voices for the various language versions. The film is also slated for release in formats including IMAX.
