SS106 Highway Project: Authorities implement legality protocols

Local authorities and labor unions are establishing a legality protocol for the upcoming SS106 highway modernization project between Crotone and Catanzaro. The infrastructure project, valued at over 2 billion euros, is expected to employ between 2,000 and 2,500 construction workers.

To prevent criminal infiltration and illegal labor intermediation, such as 'caporalato' or interference from organized crime, officials are proposing a recruitment model based on a dedicated public email address for direct job applications. This system aims to create a traceable pool of candidates without intermediaries.

Monitoring measures will include weekly reports and oversight by an inter-force group comprising the Guardia di Finanza, Carabinieri, State Police, and the Labor Inspectorate. Additionally, the use of electronic badges will be mandatory to track worker hours, and training will be restricted to official sector entities to prevent the use of fraudulent safety certifications.
