SSANU urges Nigerian government to release ₦2.53 bn TETFund funds for universities

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) issued a communiqué after its 55th National Executive Council meeting, urging both federal and state governments to immediately release the ₦2.53 billion TETFund allocation approved for each public university. The union also called for prompt implementation of the 2026 agreement signed on 29 June, which provides a 35 % salary increase, enhanced earned allowances, staff training, protection for non‑teaching staff and career progression up to CONTISS 15.

SSANU warned against any discrimination, victimisation or punitive actions toward members and demanded the activation of the Implementation Monitoring Committee to oversee compliance and address violations. The union also pressed for payment of outstanding salary arrears to improve staff morale amid prevailing economic hardship.
