SSB foils human trafficking attempt at India-Nepal border

The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) intercepted a human trafficking attempt at the India-Nepal border, rescuing six girls from Tripura, four of whom are minors. The interception occurred during a routine inspection at the Old Bridge in Panitanki.

Two suspects, Nirmal Debbarma and Chinmay Basak, were taken into custody. Investigations revealed a network involving Anna, a resident of Cooch Behar, and Vicky Kaushik, a manager at the Lotus Dance Bar in Biratnagar, Nepal. The group was allegedly arranging for the girls to be supplied to the dance bar for entertainment and other activities.

The rescued girls have been handed over to the Kharibari police station for counseling and will be reunited with their families following further investigation. Authorities are pursuing legal action against the detained suspects and are searching for Anna, while also requesting Nepalese administration to take action against Vicky Kaushik.
