Bari council delays San Nicola stadium concession amid legal challenge
The municipality of Bari issued a five‑year concession tender for the San Nicola stadium, but only SSC Bari submitted a bid. The company La Lucente has filed an appeal with the TAR Puglia, arguing that the tender was unfair because the council had already scheduled five concerts – two by Vasco Rossi, one by Eros Ramazzotti, one by Max Pezzali and one by Tiziano Ferro – giving SSC Bari a competitive advantage. A precautionary hearing is set for 7 July.
Mayor Vito Leccese asked the opposition to withdraw its request for a monothematic council meeting on the stadium issue, citing the recent death of former captain Igor Protti and the pending court case. The council accepted the request, postponing the session to a later date.
The mayor confirmed that, despite the legal dispute, the stadium will be temporarily made available to SSC Bari for the upcoming Serie C season, but the final concession remains on hold until the TAR decision.
