SSC Bari to pay €197,000 for temporary use of San Nicola stadium

The football club SSC Bari has signed a three‑month, costly agreement with the Comune di Bari to use the San Nicola stadium until 1 November. Under the deal, Bari will cover ordinary maintenance expenses amounting to about €197,000 and will also pay a monthly rent of €5,000 for August, September and October. The arrangement is a precarious modal usufruct (comodato d'uso modale precario) at cost, pending a definitive concession for the venue.

In addition to Bari, the Serie D side Monopoli 1966 will play several matches at San Nicola during the same period, receiving reimbursement for the actual expenses it incurs. The stadium, known as the “Astronave” and designed by architect Renzo Piano, remains under municipal ownership while the clubs await a permanent allocation.

The agreement follows earlier letters of availability and a provisional use for training, and comes as the Bari management, led by the De Laurentiis family, prepares its squad for the upcoming season.
