SSD prices plunge up to 46% during Prime Day sales

High‑end solid‑state drives saw record discounts in early July as retailers launched summer sales. Amazon’s Prime Day (July 4‑6) offered up to 46% off, with the SanDisk Optimus GX PRO 8100 8 TB falling to €2,149.99, a steep cut from its €2,792.73 average. Samsung’s 4 TB 990 PRO dropped 36% to €699.99, and WD’s 2 TB BLACK SN850X was €339.99, 13% below its normal price. Comparable deals appeared on India’s Flipkart GOAT Sale, and portable SSDs such as the PNY RP60 1 TB were also reduced.

The price drops follow a market rally driven by the AI boom, which has pushed enterprise SSD prices up 53‑58% this year as demand for NAND flash surged. Manufacturers like Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron have throttled wafer output, and capacity is booked through 2026, suggesting that such deep discounts may be short‑lived. Analysts do not expect a sustained price decline before the end of 2027.
