Süss MicroTec invests €45 million in Karlsruhe Advanced‑Packaging hub

German semiconductor equipment maker Süss MicroTec announced a €45 million investment to build an application and development centre for Advanced Packaging in Karlsruhe. The facility, slated for completion in 2028, will focus on the integration of multiple chips and high‑bandwidth memory into AI‑accelerator systems.

The centre is expected to create 300‑350 jobs initially, with up to 100 additional positions in later years. The state of Baden‑Württemberg will support the project with a new KIT professorship and up to €5 million in funding, reinforcing Karlsruhe’s role as a development node for chip‑packaging technology.
