St Austell and Newquay face mixed results in regional football

In South West Peninsula League Premier West action, St Austell secured a late 3-1 victory against St Mawgan. After trailing or being tied for much of the match, 16-year-old Callum Bassett scored twice during twelve minutes of stoppage time to secure the win. The match was marked by a serious knee injury to St Austell striker Rubin Wilson, which caused a significant delay in play.

In the Western League Premier Division, Newquay suffered its first home defeat of the season, losing 2-1 to Buckland Athletic. Newquay took an early lead via a Jack Bray-Evans penalty in the 59th minute, but Sam Stayt equalized shortly after. Toby Pullman scored the winning goal for Buckland in the 74th minute. Newquay manager Shaun Middleton described the performance as frustrating, noting a lack of concentration and rhythm.
