St Carlo Acutis relic begins four-month mission across Australia

A major relic of St Carlo Acutis, containing a section of his pericardium, is currently on a four-month mission across Australia. The tour, which began at St Mary’s Cathedral on 25 June, aims to visit 19 dioceses and over 50 cities and towns, concluding in Sydney on 25 October. The mission serves as a precursor to the 2028 International Eucharistic Congress in Sydney.

This religious movement follows the historic canonization of Carlo Acutis, the Catholic Church’s first millennial saint. A British-Italian computer enthusiast who died at age 15, Acutis is noted for using the internet to spread Catholicism.

Under the leadership of Pope Leo XIV, the Church has seen a surge in youth engagement. The Pope has drawn massive crowds to various events, including a youth jubilee that attracted over one million attendees from 146 countries. His popularity among younger generations has been compared to that of major music icons, with high demand for papal events noted in Europe.
