St. Cloud man charged with felony kidnapping and threats

Abdi Mohamed Dakane, 24, faces four felony charges in Stearns County following an alleged kidnapping of his domestic partner. According to court records, Dakane entered the victim's vehicle after she returned from the State Fair and forced her to drive him and an unknown male passenger around.

The victim reported being hit in the head and being prevented from exiting the vehicle. During the incident, Dakane allegedly threatened to kill the victim, her brother, and a gas station employee at a Kwik Trip. A witness reported seeing what appeared to be a handgun in Dakane's waistband. Waite Park police arrested Dakane the following day. He is charged with felony kidnapping, felony false imprisonment, and two counts of felony threats of violence.

Separately, Vernon Spoden, 44, was arrested in St. Cloud after a police chase initiated by a traffic stop for seatbelt and signal violations. Spoden allegedly struck parked cars and a house porch before fleeing on foot. A search of his vehicle reportedly uncovered a handgun, ammunition, and a significant amount of methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia.
