St. Cyril and Methodius Chapel undergoes restoration in Kunratice
The restoration of the Baroque Chapel of St. Cyril and Methodius in Kunratice, a district of Šluknov, is nearing completion. The historic site, originally built in 1723 by Gottfried Mai, suffered significant damage following World War II, including theft of its equipment and the alleged shooting of its statues by a local hunter.
The renovation is being conducted in two stages funded by the town of Šluknov and subsidies from the Ústecký Region. The first stage, costing 292,000 CZK, focused on repairing the roof, rafters, and waterproofing. The second stage, expected to conclude in October with a budget of nearly 500,000 CZK, includes new flooring, interior and exterior plastering, new windows, doors, and the installation of a new bell in the bell tower.
