St. Gallen canton hit by multiple burglaries stealing cash, jewelry and safes

Between Tuesday evening and Sunday noon on 2 August 2026, six burglaries were reported to the St. Gallen emergency dispatch centre. The incidents occurred in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen, affecting apartments, single‑family houses and a school on Rorschacher Strasse.

Unknown perpetrators broke into the premises, stealing cash, jewellery and a safe or safe‑deposit box. Reported losses range from several thousand to tens of thousands of Swiss francs. In one case the burglars entered a flat but left without taking any items. Police investigations are ongoing.
