St. Georg Gymnasium fundraiser raises over 16,000 euros for local and international aid
Students and teachers at St. Georg Gymnasium organized a sponsored run that raised a total of 16,110.03 euros. The funds were split almost equally between two charitable organizations: Lebenshilfe Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg and the association Kalangala.
Lebenshilfe will use its portion of 8,192.15 euros to purchase air conditioning units for a residential group to improve living conditions during hot weather. The organization provides support, housing, and educational services for people with disabilities and their families.
The remaining 7,917.88 euros will be directed to Kalangala to support disadvantaged children and youth in Uganda. According to association chairwoman Simone Zingel, the funds will be invested in the construction and furnishing of small residential groups, allowing children to live in a family-like environment with a house mother.
