St George Mining reports record 207‑metre rare‑earth intercept at Brazil's Araxá project
St George Mining (ASX: SGQ) announced that drilling at its Araxá rare‑earths and niobium project in Minas Gerais, Brazil, delivered a 207 metre continuous intercept grading 2.6 % total rare‑earth oxides (TREO) and 0.30 % niobium pentoxide. The company said the result is the best in its campaign and supports a potential open‑pit operation because the high‑grade mineralisation occurs near the surface.
The drill program encompassed 37 diamond holes, also producing several other thick, high‑grade sections, such as a 135.1 metre interval at 4.86 % TREO and multiple intercepts above 3 % TREO. Executive chairman John Prineas highlighted the consistency of the mineralisation and indicated that the data will underpin an upcoming resource upgrade and further development studies.
