St. George University Hospital hosts robotic surgery session with Brazilian specialist
St. George University Hospital in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, hosted a scientific and practical session on robotic surgery featuring Brazilian urologist Professor Gilberto Almeida. Serving as a proctor, Professor Almeida observed three complex urological operations performed using the Versius robotic system.
The surgical cases included a radical extraperitoneal prostatectomy for prostate carcinoma, a highly complex case involving simultaneous primary tumors on the stomach and kidney, and a procedure for a patient with a large kidney tumor. According to Professor Magid Kadim, head of the Urology Clinic, all three patients remained in good condition following the interventions.
The event included lectures on the clinical experience of robotic surgery and the role of the Versius system in modern practice. The session emphasized the potential of robotic technologies for minimally invasive treatments and the importance of standardizing operative procedures.
