St Helens head coach Paul Rowley departs with immediate effect

Paul Rowley has stepped down as head coach of Super League club St Helens with immediate effect, just before the team's derby against Wigan Warriors. Rowley left nine months into a three‑year contract after a turbulent season that saw the club sit sixth on the ladder. Assistant coach Eamon O’Carroll has taken interim charge, and club chairman Eamonn McManus thanked Rowley, saying, “I would like to thank Paul for his commitment and extreme hard work as our Head Coach.”

St Helens are now searching for a permanent replacement. A leading candidate emerging is former South Sydney Rabbitohs assistant Ben Hornby, who has been linked to the role after missing out on an NRL head‑coaching position. The club aims to restore its status as a silverware contender and preserve its historic success in the Super League.
