St. Ivan Rilski Hospital opens renovated pediatric ward in Dupnitsa

The pediatric department at St. Ivan Rilski Hospital in Dupnitsa has officially reopened following a complete renovation. The project was implemented under the ‘Svetulka – a hospital that does not look like a hospital’ initiative by the For Good Foundation. This marks the 12th such facility in Bulgaria to undergo this specific transformation.

The renovation was a collaborative effort involving the For Good Foundation, the Rotary Club of Dupnitsa, the Dupnitsa Municipality, local businesses, and numerous donors and volunteers. The Rotary Club of Dupnitsa played a significant role by organizing a large-scale local fundraising campaign to cover a substantial portion of the project costs.

Dr. Stefan Nikolov, the hospital director, noted that the project aimed to transform the pediatric ward from a place of fear and anxiety into a space of comfort, warmth, and security for children. The opening coincided with the city of Dupnitsa’s holiday and the celebration of Bulgarian Doctor’s Day.
