St. Jerome Conference holds meeting in Dubrovnik

The St. Jerome Conference held a regular working meeting on August 6, 2026, at the Capuchin monastery and the Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy in Dubrovnik. The meeting brought together provincial ministers and representatives from various Franciscan communities, including provinces from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia.

A primary focus of the meeting was the improvement of joint formation processes within the Conference. Participants reviewed proposed statutes for postulation and novitiate, aiming to develop unified formation programs. It was also decided that the start of the novitiate will henceforth take place in September rather than August.

Additional discussions included preparations for a joint meeting in Međugorje scheduled for September 5, as well as planning for the upcoming General Chapter of the Order of Friars Minor. The provinces agreed to prepare individual proposals regarding mission, communication, and religious life to be unified and submitted to the General Chapter.
