St. John Armenian Church funds home for fallen Artsakh hero's family

The St. John Armenian Church of San Francisco has contributed $20,000 to the Lorik Humanitarian Fund to provide a permanent home in Etchmiadzin for the family of Armo Abgaryan, a fallen serviceman from Artsakh.

Abgaryan and Gagik Balayan, both from the village of Gishi, were killed in an attack in June 2023. Following Azerbaijan’s September 2023 attack, which caused the forced displacement of the Armenian population from Artsakh, the Abgaryan family relocated to Armenia.

The housing initiative by the Lorik Humanitarian Fund has now reached 15 families, including seven families of fallen servicemen. The blessing of the Abgaryan family’s new home was conducted by Der Hovannes, a priest with spiritual ties to Artsakh, on what would have been Armo Abgaryan’s birthday.
