St. John's basketball players secure eligibility to play

St. John's basketball players Keyshawn Hall and Quinn Ellis have both secured eligibility to play for the Red Storm.

In a Queens Supreme Court hearing, Judge Joseph Risi ruled against the NCAA's attempt to lift a temporary restraining order for Auburn transfer Keyshawn Hall. Hall, a 6-foot-7 wing, is seeking a fifth year of eligibility after arguing that the NCAA's new rules unfairly excluded the 2022 high school class.

Simultaneously, the NCAA declared point guard Quinn Ellis eligible following a reinstatement process regarding his previous professional play in the Euro League. Coach Rick Pitino described the roster as his “deepest, most-talented” yet, noting that Ellis is a vital component of the team. The full roster is expected to be available for the team's exhibition game against Drexel.
