St. John’s Health receives $1.25M from Wyoming rural health fund
St. John’s Health (SJH) has been awarded $1.25 million through the Wyoming Department of Health’s Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP). The funding, part of a larger $205 million state-wide distribution, is intended to support operations and personnel for essential services, including emergency room care and labor and delivery services.
SJH Chief Financial Officer Mitch Watson noted that while the grant will bolster critical programs, it will not move the hospital into a positive margin. The funding comes at a time when rural healthcare faces significant challenges, with national analyses suggesting hundreds of rural hospitals are at risk of closure.
