St. John's soccer teams suffer recent losses

The St. John's University soccer programs faced recent setbacks in both men's and women's matchups.

The women's soccer team lost 1-0 to Monmouth in a road game. The decisive goal came in the 22nd minute via a penalty kick converted by Chloe Messer. Despite increasing pressure in the second half and outshooting Monmouth 5-3, the Red Storm were unable to equalize.

In men's soccer, the team suffered a 2-1 loss to No. 16 Hofstra during a rain-delayed home opener. After falling behind to a header by Sean Keane in the first half, St. John's managed to equalize in stoppage time through a goal by Luca Fargnoli. However, a late penalty awarded to Hofstra following a video review allowed Lewis Matton to score with only 24 seconds remaining, securing the win for Hofstra.
