St. John's wins opening match of Jack Kaiser Volleyball Classic

The 12th annual Jack Kaiser Volleyball Classic is underway at Carnesecca Arena in Queens, New York. St. John's University opened the tournament with a 3-1 victory over Penn, with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 18-25, and 25-15. The win marks the fifth consecutive victory for the Red Storm. Key performances included libero Rashanny Solano Smith, who recorded a career-best 41 digs, and Amanda Caputi, who provided 38 assists.

Other participants in the tournament include Bryant University, which is scheduled to face Rutgers and Penn, and Rutgers, which enters the competition on a four-match winning streak. Bryant University's upcoming schedule includes a match against Rutgers on Friday, September 18, followed by a game against Penn on Saturday, September 19.
