St. Joseph’s Food Bank delivers supplies to B.C. wildfire evacuees
St. Joseph’s Food Bank in Mission, British Columbia, has delivered 4,500 pounds of food and essential supplies to families displaced by wildfires. The donation was provided to the Sq’éwqel (Seabird Island Band) Emergency Support Services.
Following a community call for donations and coordination with Food Banks BC, the food bank staff transported the supplies via van to the wildfire reception centre on Friday, August 14. The Sq’éwqel First Nation, which operates the Seabird Island Wildfire Reception Centre in the Agassiz area, expressed gratitude for the assistance on social media, noting the impact on families facing displacement.
