St Julian’s police arrest Polish national after suspected murder

Police in St Julian’s have launched an investigation following the death of a 31-year-old Moroccan man in Spinola Gardens. Authorities received a report at approximately 6:30 am on Sunday regarding a man lying lifeless in the gardens.

Preliminary findings suggest an argument occurred between two men shortly before the incident. Reports indicate the victim may have been struck and fell, hitting his head on concrete. No weapons were reportedly used in the altercation.

A 27-year-old Polish national, described as a professional boxer, was arrested near St George’s Bay approximately ninety minutes after the body was discovered. Police utilized CCTV footage to track the suspect, who was reportedly visiting Malta as a tourist.

Magistrate Joe Mifsud has opened an inquiry, and an autopsy is expected to determine the exact cause of death. This incident follows another suspected murder in Marsa earlier in the week.
