St. Kitts and Nevis PM Terrance Drew hospitalized for medical evaluation

St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew has been hospitalized for medical evaluation following a health emergency. While Martinique media reported that Drew suffered a stroke, the St. Kitts and Nevis government has not officially confirmed a specific diagnosis, stating instead that he was undergoing scheduled diagnostic tests and specialist assessments at an overseas facility.

Dr. Drew was initially treated at the Joseph N. France General Hospital after experiencing nausea, headaches, and dizziness. Following medical advice, he was stabilized at the Martinique University Hospital Center before being flown to South Florida for further comprehensive examinations at Baptist Hospital Center.

In a video update, the Prime Minister assured citizens that he is in good spirits and that there is ‘nothing alarming to report’ as specialists continue their investigations. He expressed gratitude to the medical teams in both Martinique and St. Kitts and Nevis. Dr. Drew also noted his intention to discuss the quality of medical care available in Martinique with fellow Caribbean Community (CARICOM) leaders. Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Geoffrey Hanley has assumed responsibility for government affairs during the Prime Minister's absence.
